Encouragement and Support.
Hal on May 14th 2007
It really doesn’t matter what line of work or task we do, for some reason we seem to need encouragement and support in some fashion. I believe it’s an innate characteristic put there by Christ in our creation. It’s one of the reasons I believe that Adam needed a helpmate for tending the Garden of Eden.
Along the way of the creation of “Sins of Our Fathers” it has been a great blessing to me to receive encouragement and support from my family. My brother bought me a laptop to work upon, my mother continues to offer words of encouragement and prodding, and my father has helped in ways beyond measure. Friends too, hold me accountable and encourage me to continue with the dream I have for this book. Like Sara and Laurie who are so sure it will see a bookshelf that they will not allow me to entertain thoughts otherwise. My church has been instrumental in keeping me on the path of this dream too.
Then there’s those here in the Internet sphere like, Victoria Gaines, Stacy Harp, Brian, and Bryan to name a few who have been answers from the Lord for me. There are many other I’ve not named too.
I write this to thank them and honor them for their support in the dream Christ has given me, but also to show how important encouragement and support is, particularly in regard to what Christ has called us to do. As fellow brothers and sisters in Christ we need to be part of a church body, whether that’s a home church or a huge edifice is not mine to say for you, but I can assuredly say that scripture teaches us to not forsake the joining together with fellow Christians. One of those reasons being encouragement and support.
I’ve tried to relay that in my novel, as well as correction and spiritual growth. I hope I’ve accomplished that and have honored the Lord with it.
Above all, we should be actively looking to encourage others in Christ because he will give us people to do that for on a daily basis if we walk in him.
If you are a writer, I must insist you find a writers group to join. I joined the Suncoast Christian Writers group which meets once a month and has been an absolute God-send for me, I should never have dragged my feet in joining like I did. The people in my group have helped me to stretch and grow as a writer in ways I did not expect.
I’ll tell you of an online group you can join too. It’s not a writers group but a group of like minded Christians that see a need to be active in our world when it comes to the popular media. It’s the brain child and dream of Stacy Harp and for a yearly fee of $35 you can join the ACM iGrOOps community.
Active Christian Media is a private, confidential, Christian, Online Community that is seeking to bring together Christians in the media. If you are an author, activist, speaker, filmmaker, producer, director, Christian blogger, singer, Christian radio personality or other creative Christian work…
You can benefit from free books and the like that Stacy gets from authors and publisher, but to me I think the biggest benefit is the fellowship. Check it out.
