Pastor Jack Grayson
Pastor Jack Grayson is a man still believing in, but embittered with, God because of a past filled with pain and one desperate unanswered prayer.
His bitterness grows when the police make him their prime suspect in the murder of one of the teens from his church. His resentment deepens when the killer begins to taunt him.
In the midst of it all he finds he can have feelings of love again. But before love can bloom, Jack must get rid of his bitter spirit toward God if he hopes to stop the murderer from killing again.
Brooke Simmons
Detective Brooke Simmons's sole focus has been following in the path of her father and grandfather: carrying a badge. Successful and in the top of her class with a natural ability for profiling, she loves her job but inwardly knows she's still missing something.
Because of her investigation of Jack Grayson, Brooke begins to discover what that hole in soul really is, but can she fill it before time runs out for her?
Maxwell Tyler
Detective Maxwell Tyler is a seasoned investigator. Brooke's partner, he tires to teach and protect her in the hope of saving her from the pain he's faced during the years of carrying a badge; like the pain of losing his wife and son to divorce.
His motto is, "Evidence first," so he gives Jack Grayson the benefit of the doubt by playing the "Devil's advocate" with his superiors and Brooke. He is a man willing to put his life on the line for those he loves.

One sin births another which births another. Generation to generation breeding a man who blends in with his surroundings, a man who pleasures in the pain and death of others.
